Arturo Estrada

Founder and Head of the Laboratory of Mycology at the University of Tlaxcala
Expert on the ecological importance of mushrooms and the Gomphacceal family, a popular eating mushroom in this part of Mexico.

Adriana Montoya - Ethno Mycologist
Expert on mushroom culture as it pertains to the lives of her work with the local people, their traditions, languages, and how things are changing for them.

Alejandro Kong

Mycological Researcher at the University of Tlaxcala
Expert on the taxonomy of Russulalles associated with Fir.

John Rahart

President of the New Mexico Mycological Society (and trip participant)
Interested in and studies the effects of mushroom poisoning, better described as "toxicity". His description of death by mushroom reminded the writer of this article of a quote by the late Donald Malcolm, a New Yorker magazine writer who wrote in 1958: "It is hard to understand why mushroom hunting has been neglected by lovers of dangerous sport".
